The Red Cross Society Law was promulgated in 1993 and amended in 2009 and 2017 respectively. The latest revision entered into force on May 8, 2017.

There are 30 articles in total.

The key points are as follows:

1.The Red Cross Society of China (“RCSC”) is a unified Red Cross organization of the People’s Republic of China and a social relief and aid society that engages in humanitarian work.

2.The RCSC shall develop its friendly cooperation relationship with the Red Cross Societies and the Red Crescent Societies of all countries under the principles of independence, equality and mutual respect.

3.Red Cross Societies may conduct fundraising activities in accordance with the law. Fundraising activities shall comply with the relevant provisions of the Charity Law of the People’s Republic of China. Red Cross Societies shall dispose of the donated money and materials they accept in accordance with the fundraising plans, the wishes of the donors or the donation agreements.
