The Administrative Measures for the Content Management Practitioners of Internet News and Information Service Units entered into force on 1 Dec. 2017.

There are 20 articles in total, which aim to supervise the personnel at the Internet news and information service units (hereinafter the “practitioners”) who are specialized in content management such as Internet news and information collection, editing, publishing, reproducing and examining. The key points are as follows:

  1. The Cyberspace Administration of China and its local counterparts are the regulatory authorities in this field.
  2. The practitioners shall abide by the law, safeguard the national and public interests, comply with the professional ethics of journalism, and shall not abuse their positions to seek improper interests.
  3. The regulatory authorities shall train the practitioners on a regular basis.
  4. The regulatory authorities shall establish a unified information management system to record the practitioners’ information.
