The Regulations on Ecological Governance of Network Information entered into force on 1 Mar. 2020.

There are 42 articles in total. The Regulations aim to supervise the network information within the territory of China. The key points of the Regulations include:

  1. Producers of network information are encouraged to publish and publicize national systems and policies, the contents reflecting social development and social morality, and the contents increasing China’s international profile.

  2. It is prohibited to publish contents that violate laws, damage national honor, damage honor of heroic martyrs, advocate terrorism, spread pornography/violence, etc.

  3. Producers of network information should avoid publishing information such as that with misleading titles, sexually arousing content, and/or improper comments on disasters.

  4. Network information service platforms shall recommend the above-mentioned encouraged content to their users.

  5. Users should also comply with the above requirements when commenting on the content.
