In August 2023, China’s Supreme People’s Court(SPC) issued the “Guiding Opinions on Strengthening and Standardizing the Work of Elevated Jurisdiction and Retrial of Cases” (关于加强和规范案件提级管辖和再审提审工作的指导意见). According to the Guiding Opinions, the SPC has relaxed the standards for its retrial of civil and administrative cases.

In July 2023, the Beijing Fourth Intermediate Court (BFIC) released its “2022 Annual Report on Judicial Review Cases in Domestic Arbitration”. As a court with jurisdiction over two of the largest arbitration institutions in China, namely the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), BFIC is a major player in China’s arbitration landscape.
